Key Features of the Sony Xperia 10 IV

In terms of design, there is no change to Sony's trademark boxy form, but this year's Xperia 10 IV has a plastic back and plastic frame instead of the glass back and metal frame like last year's. Despite the large battery, it weighs only 161 grams and is both compact and narrow, making it comfortable to hold in one hand.

The Xperia 10 IV includes a 12-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel telephoto with 2x optical zoom, and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera. Sony says that the camera setup is basically the same as the last model, even though the TRILUMINOS display can show a broader range of colours.

So, what makes the 10 IV different? Aside from the optical zoom, the primary camera now offers optical image stabilization (OIS), faster software processing (including a night mode), a wider dynamic range for films, and a far higher quality digital zoom. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is used in the 8-megapixel selfie camera to enhance facial traits.

The Xperia 10 IV's battery clearly outperforms its predecessor. A 500-milliampere increase over the Xperia 10 III's battery powers this device. Now that the phone can use 5G, it's pretty much a big deal. But it's a bummer that it can't record 4K videos like last year's Snapdragon 690.

Compared to the other mid-range smartphones that appear to rule the market, the Xperia 10 IV is a decent device to consider. Even though it's disappointing to find that there is no support for 4K recording this time around, it's great to note that there have been improvements made to the camera's overall performance.
